What 𗻸 means
A Tangut plant term. Its recorded dictionary meaning is a kind of grass; another dictionary sense links it to herbal medicine.
Tangut writing came into use in 1036 for the language and state of Western Xia. Its forms drew on Chinese writing, but the script wrote Tangut, not Chinese. It appeared in records, inscriptions, printed books, and Buddhist translations. After Western Xia fell in 1227, Tangut writing continued; the latest known example is a Buddhist inscription dated 1502.
