What 𗼁 means
It is linked with “below” in Tangut character structure. It sits at the bottom of some compounds, while the full character determines its reading.
Commissioned around 1036 for Western Xia (Xixia), Tangut writing served government and a Buddhist canon, expressing a distinct state identity. Its makers followed the Khitan model of a state script. A manuscript from Khara-khoto, a ruined Tangut-era city, probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century.
Is 𗼁 a Chinese character?
No: it belongs to Tangut, a historical script separate from Chinese.
Tangut and Chinese writing can look similar in their compact, square forms. If 𗼁 appears as a box, the active font may lack Tangut support; use one with Tangut glyphs.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗼁 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
