What 𗼨 means
As a Tangut word, it means “broken pieces.”
The same graph starts the two-character Tangut royal clan name 𗼨𗆟. There it belongs to a proper name, so its word gloss is not a translation of the whole name.
When did Tangut writing begin?
The Tangut script was devised around 1036.
Under Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao, his official Yeli Renrong oversaw its development for writing Tangut, the state's language. Its dense, squared characters drew on Chinese writing conventions while recording another language. The script remained in use under the Yuan dynasty and into the early 16th century.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗼨 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.

𗼨\17F28Why is 𗼨 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
