What 𗽤 means
A Tangut word for a stockaded village.
Tangut dictionaries use Chinese 寨 as its gloss, meaning “stockade” or “fortified village”; this translates the word, not the glyph.
Why does 𗽤 look Chinese?
Its forms were modeled on Chinese writing.
Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao ordered a new Tangut script in 1036 for government and to distinguish Tangut culture from Chinese. Tangut texts include Buddhist works, law codes and dictionaries; writing continued after the state fell in 1227. Two Buddhist stone pillars erected in 1502 are the latest dated examples of Tangut writing.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗽤 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
