What 𗽿 means
Its meaning comes from Tangut context; dzu² is a reconstructed reading.
Created around 1036 under Emperor Li Yuanhao, Tangut helped Western Xia distinguish itself from Song China. It served Buddhist scriptures, official records, and translations of Chinese works, and remained in use during the Yuan and Ming dynasties. The script drew on Chinese writing and echoed earlier Khitan scripts used by a neighboring people.
Why does 𗽿 appear as a box?
Without a Tangut font, it may appear blank or as a box.
Tangut IME Online reported in 2025 that some mobile apps failed to display Tangut text; fonts also vary in style.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗽿 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
