What 𗾁 means
A Tangut character linked to the gloss “a transliteration.” A dictionary index gives 𗾁 this gloss, but not the source word. Tangut is distinct from Chinese, though its forms were modeled on Chinese and Khitan writing.
The Tangut script for Western Xia was established around 1036. It served official writing, Buddhist translations, law, and printing, and remained in use after the dynasty fell in 1227. The latest known examples date to 1502.
