What 𗾔 means
It means “sun” in Tangut.
The Tangut script, created around 1036 under Western Xia’s first emperor, served official, private, and religious texts. It outlasted the state, becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming period. The 12th-century Wén Hǎi rhyming dictionary recorded character relationships.
Scholars reconstruct it as be² or mbe; a British Library fragment records be beside Tibetan sound glosses. These are not a modern spoken pronunciation.
Specialist and historical; add “sun” for readers unfamiliar with Tangut.
