Tangut Weapon Character

4018/6136

𗾱 means “weapon” in Tangut, not a modern emoji. Xixia writing served Western Xia’s public and religious life, then persisted in books after the state fell. A box may mean your font lacks Tangut support.

Text symbol

What 𗾱 means

Its meaning is “weapon.” Tangut, a language and script of Western Xia in what is now northwestern China. The Tangut script resembles Chinese writing but is separate; this glyph is a word, not a weapon picture or chat warning.

The Tangut script was created around 1036 under Western Xia’s first emperor to write the Tangut language. It served official, private, and religious writing. After the Mongol conquest in 1227, Tangut Buddhist books continued under the Yuan beyond the state’s borders; by the end of the Ming dynasty, the script was obsolete.

1

Why does 𗾱 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
