What 𗿇 means
The Tangut gloss is “wild duck.”
Tangut, also called Xixia, is the historical language and script of Western Xia in what is now northwestern China. The glyph brings together the Tangut character 𗿼, meaning “bird,” and 𗖬, whose inferred sound matches the full character and whose meaning is “urgent.”
Is 𗿇 Chinese or Tangut?
It is Tangut, a separate script whose characters resemble Chinese forms.
Western Xia promulgated the script about 1036 to write the Tangut language. It appears in official, private, and Buddhist texts. After the state fell to Mongol forces in 1227, writing continued in the Yuan and Ming periods before becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
Neutral and literal: a Tangut word for an animal.
Tangut resembles Chinese writing, but this character belongs to a separate script.
