Tangut Ideograph-17FEE

4079/6136

𗿮 is a Tangut character glossed “a kind of grass” in a Tangut–Chinese dictionary, without a species name. Around 1036, the court of Western Xia, a Tangut kingdom, created the Tangut script to write its language; it drew on Chinese writing models but was a distinct writing system. It served official and Buddhist texts, then remained in use under the Yuan and Ming dynasties after Western Xia fell.

Why does 𗿮 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
