What 𘃄 means
Its Tangut dictionary gloss is “grip.” Li Fanwen’s English index assigns the character to entry 5669.
The Tangut script was commissioned around 1036 to write the Tangut language and mark Western Xia identity. It belonged to the same regional state-script tradition as Khitan and Jurchen, though these were separate writing systems. Tangut Buddhist texts continued after Western Xia fell in 1227.
Historical and scholarly; its Tangut meaning is a firm hold.
Its square form may look like Chinese writing at a glance, but it belongs to Tangut.

1Why does 𘃄 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
