What 𘄈 means
A kind of waterweed. A Tangut-to-Chinese dictionary gives this gloss. “Tangut Ideograph-18108” is a code label, not a translation.
The Tangut script was created about 1036 CE to write Tangut, the language of the Western Xia state in northwest China. A dated Tangut document from 1070/1071 is among the earliest surviving samples.
Tangut writing continued during the Yuan and Ming after the Mongol conquest, becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming period. Tangut texts include official records, private writing, Buddhist scriptures and inscriptions.
Is 𘄈 Chinese writing?
No; 𘄈 is Tangut. Tangut script borrowed square forms and construction ideas from Chinese characters, but it was made for a different language.
