tangut ideograph-18145

Tangut character 18145

4422/6136

𘅅 is a character in Tangut writing, also called Xixia; its shape is not a picture that explains its meaning. Emperor Li Yuanhao commissioned the script in 1036 to support a distinct Tangut identity and compile a Tangut collection of Buddhist scriptures. Tangut books also carried translated Chinese works. Tangut writing drew on Chinese forms but remained a separate system, in use after Western Xia fell in 1227.

Why does 𘅅 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
