tangut ideograph-18282

Tangut character 𘊂

4739/6136

𘊂 is a Tangut script character for the extinct language of Western Xia, not an emoji. A Tangut dictionary gives bja as its estimated pronunciation, not an English translation. Issued in 1036 to mark Tangut state identity, the script drew on Chinese writing and the neighboring Khitan state's script. Tangut Buddhist texts continued after Western Xia fell in 1227; a Buddhist inscription survives from 1502.

Why does 𘊂 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
