tangut ideograph-18292

Tangut character 18292

4755/6136

𘊒 is a Tangut character for “rat” or “mouse.” Around 1036, Western Xia created a national script for the Tangut language, spoken in northwest China; the script’s square forms drew on Chinese writing and perhaps Khitan, another northern script, but remained distinct. It was used for government records and Buddhist translations, then stayed in use under the Yuan and Ming dynasties after Western Xia fell. It is not an emoji.

Why does 𘊒 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
