What 𘊓 means
It means “scorpion” in Tangut.
Tangut was a language written in its own script. Dictionaries gloss 𘊓 as “scorpion,” and one scholarly reconstruction gives its reading in Latin letters as la, roughly the syllable “la.”
Why did the Tangut script exist?
It served government and translation.
The script was promulgated in 1036, before the Western Xia state was founded, for official Tangut use and Buddhist and Chinese translations. That dates the script’s public role, not this glyph’s first surviving appearance.
Historical and linguistic; its Tangut reading will look specialist outside a Tangut text.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘊓 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
