What 𘋬 means
Use a Tangut input method.
Stroke-code layouts build Tangut characters from shape-based codes. Phonetic layouts use reconstructed readings; one scheme lists this character as 1tshjɨ. Its exact input sequence depends on the layout.
Why was Tangut writing created?
It was designed for the Tangut language of the Western Xia kingdom.
The script entered use around 1036. It served schools, government records, and Buddhist translations in the Western Xia, a Tangut kingdom. The 12th-century Sea of Characters, a rhyming dictionary, analyzed how the script's built-up forms work. The last known example of Tangut writing is dated 1502.
Its square shapes can resemble Chinese writing, but Tangut and Chinese use different scripts and cannot be read as one another.
Is 𘋬 related to another Tangut form?
Yes: 𘄴 is paired with it in one Tangut verb study.
The study lists 𘄴 (reconstructed as 1tshji) with 𘋬 (1tshjɨ) for “to like,” while saying this exact pair needs further study. That supports a scholarly relationship, not interchangeable spellings.
Historical and specialist: it fits Tangut texts, script study, or deliberate display of the writing system.
Its square shape may look Chinese, but 𘋬 belongs to Tangut writing.
