What 𘌝 means
It is a Tangut word glossed as “wide.”
Tangut is the language written in the Tangut script. Chinese writing influenced the script’s design, but this character records a Tangut word; the two scripts are not interchangeable.
Western Xia’s ruler Li Yuanhao ordered court scholars to create the script in the eleventh century. The earliest surviving dated example is an official document sent to a military inspector in 1072. Tangut writing carried government records, Buddhist translations, dictionaries and translations of Chinese classics.
Read this word through Tangut context
After Western Xia fell in 1227, Tangut writing continued to appear in later inscriptions. A lone character still cannot tell you whether someone means the dictionary gloss, is quoting a text or is showing the character.
Scholars describe strong Chinese influence on Tangut writing and compare its character-based system with Khitan and Jurchen scripts. These are connections between script traditions; they do not establish a Chinese ancestor for 𘌝.
This is a word from historical Tangut writing; its “wide” gloss makes sense only when the surrounding text is understood as Tangut.
If someone sent you 𘌝, treat it as a Tangut word sample; the gloss “wide” alone cannot tell you their intent.
