What 𘍜 means
Use Unicode hex input if your editor supports it.
Enter U1835C in an editor that accepts hexadecimal code-point input. If it does not, use a Tangut-capable input method. A blank square means the font cannot display this glyph; it does not mean the character changed.
What does 𘍜 mean?
It marks a syllable’s sound in Tangut phonetic notation.
Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut–Chinese Dictionary lists 𘍜 in a phonetic table, a chart for recording speech sounds. There it marks a syllable rather than naming a standalone word. The Unicode label identifies the sign but does not translate it; the surrounding Tangut passage or a specialized dictionary supplies the reading.
Tangut writing was promoted in 1036 for Western Xia’s official and cultural work, including Buddhist and Chinese translations. After the state fell to Mongol forces in 1227, the script remained in use for a time before leaving daily life. A bilingual stone inscription helped scholars identify the Tangut script in 1804; finds at Khara-Khoto in 1909 accelerated its study. Tangut developed in a Chinese-character environment alongside Khitan and Jurchen state scripts, but that script-level connection does not make 𘍜 Chinese, Khitan, or Jurchen.
Scholarly and historical; this sign points to Tangut writing or sound notation, not conversational tone.
Do not assign it a Chinese reading; it belongs to Tangut.

Questions people ask
2Is 𘍜 an emoji?
No. 𘍜 is a Tangut text character, not an emoji.
Why does 𘍜 show as a box?
A missing Tangut font is the likely cause. The box is a display failure; it does not replace or change 𘍜.
