What 𘍲 means
It is a Tangut character glossed with 詫: surprise or literary boasting.
A 2018 study of Tangut texts lists 𘍲 as L5311 and gives 詫 as its Chinese gloss. 詫 can mean being surprised or, in literary use, boasting or showing off; without a sentence, the gloss leaves both readings open.
Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao ordered the Tangut script introduced in 1036 for official and cultural use. A preface and postface to a Tangut homophone dictionary, written in 1132, describe later expansion and correction of its forms.
Is 𘍲 Chinese or Tangut?
It is Tangut, in a script influenced by Chinese and Khitan writing.
The Tangut language was written in Western Xia using its own script. Chinese and neighboring Khitan scripts influenced its visual forms, but Tangut is not a branch of Chinese writing. That explains the resemblance; it does not make 𘍲 interchangeable with 詫.
The script was used for a Tangut Buddhist canon. Surviving works also cover law, Confucian learning, military affairs, and literature.

Questions people ask
2Why does 𘍲 appear as a box?
A box usually means the app's text renderer or selected font lacks Tangut support. As of 2026, Tangut input-method documentation also warns that some mobile apps may not display Tangut text after input succeeds; try a font with Tangut coverage.
Is 𘍲 the same character as 詫?
No. 詫 is a Chinese character used here as a meaning gloss; 𘍲 is a separate Tangut character.
