𘑋 is Tangut, a distinct script shaped by Chinese forms and earlier Khitan script-making. It took shape under Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao around 1036 for state use and Buddhist translation. The earliest surviving example is a 1072 official document. After Western Xia fell, Tangut remained in use during the Yuan and Ming dynasties for Buddhist and translated books, then became obsolete by the end of the Ming.
