What 𘔩 means
In Tangut, it names the action of eating. Scholars reconstruct its lost reading as shjew², a written notation rather than a modern pronunciation guide.
Created around 1036 for the Tangut-led Western Xia state and Buddhist translation, the script later carried legal, Confucian, military, and literary texts. A 1502 inscription shows use after the state ended.
Chinese and Khitan writing influenced Tangut, a separate script. If this glyph appears as a box, the active font lacks it; supported fonts may show variants.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘔩 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.

𘔩\18529Why is 𘔩 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
