What 𘗊 means
A Tangut dictionary glosses it as “copper.”
Tangut was the language of the Western Xia state in northwestern China. In 1036, the ruler ordered a script to write Tangut and mark the kingdom’s cultural independence. Its square character-building drew on Chinese writing, but the two scripts are distinct and not mutually readable. Tangut writing served Buddhist, government, and everyday texts; surviving inscriptions extend to 1502.
Use it for the Tangut word “copper,” or when discussing Tangut writing; it is not a general copper symbol.
Don’t mistake its Chinese-influenced shape for a Chinese character.
