What 𘙁 means

It means “to twist” or “to knead.”

Both glosses describe an action.

How is Tangut related to Chinese writing?

It borrows Chinese strokes but is a separate script.

Created around 1036 to write Tangut, the script became the writing system of Western Xia in what is now northwestern China. Its records include official, private, and Buddhist works. Use continued after the state fell in 1227; Tangut texts are attested through 1502. 𘙁 is not a Chinese character.

Why does 𘙁 look different in some fonts?

Some fonts do. A 2024 study comparing the character with Tangut source examples says the short diagonal at the right should not stick past a nearby upright stroke; fonts that show it protruding draw it incorrectly.
