What 𘘿 means

It means that something will happen in a very short time.

Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut–Chinese Dictionary glosses 𘘿 as “be in very short time,” which gives the natural English sense “soon.”

The Sea of Characters, a Tangut rhyming dictionary from the 12th century, lists it at position 80.141 under rhyme 75.

When was Tangut script created?

It entered use with the Western Xia state in 1036. Tangut served administration and a distinct state identity; in 1038, a committee was set up to translate Buddhist sutras.

Tangut books ranged from Buddhist scriptures and Chinese classics in translation to encyclopedias, military works and literature. The script remained in use after Western Xia fell in 1227; Buddhist dhāraṇī pillars—upright stones inscribed with sacred texts—made in 1502 are among the latest known examples.

Tangut writing drew on Chinese and neighboring Khitan script traditions but formed a separate system for the Tangut language. Chinese influence on the forms does not make this word Chinese.

How to type 𘘿

Use a Tangut input method and a font with Tangut support.

A Tangut IME (input method editor) lets you search the script’s characters. Documented routes include four-corner codes (numbers based on shape), radical search (by written parts), Latin-letter transcription, and Tangut Cangjie. The Raycosine browser IME had no built-in dictionary in 2026, so users had to load one first.

As of 2026, Raycosine also warned that some mobile apps may not display Tangut text after successful Unicode entry. Tangut fonts can draw the same character with different stroke styles.
