Tangut Ideograph 18697

5784/6136

𘚗 is a Tangut, or Xixia, character; its number-based label identifies the glyph, not its old word or sound. Around 1036, ruler Li Yuanhao ordered the script to help set Western Xia apart. It carried Buddhist translations, followed neighboring Khitan state scripts from about a century earlier, and drew visual cues from Chinese writing without deriving from it. Its use continued into the Yuan and Ming periods.

Why does 𘚗 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
