What 𘛂 means
In Tangut, it means “to travel.” The scholarly reconstructed reading is written *bji̱j; the asterisk marks a reading inferred from historical evidence. A fragment of a law code from Western Xia, the Tangut state, dated 1149–1169, records the same meaning.
Tangut writing was created around 1036 for the Tangut language and served Buddhist translation and legal writing. It continued under the Yuan and Ming dynasties, including in later Buddhist inscriptions; the latest known Tangut inscription is dated 1502.
Tangut is a separate script from Chinese writing, so 𘛂 is a Tangut character, not a Chinese one.
