What 𘝀 means

In Tangut, 𘝀 means “to fly.”

The 12th-century Sea of Characters, a Tangut dictionary, analyzes the character through 𗿼 (“bird”) and 𘝋 (“wing”).

Tangut writing entered official use in 1036. The latest known Tangut text is dated 1502, long after Xixia fell.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𘝀 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
