tangut ideograph-18d01

Tangut Character 18D01

𘴁 is a Tangut character glossed as “tail” and “east” in Li Fanwen’s Tangut–Chinese dictionary. Tangut writing was created for the language of the Xixia (Western Xia) kingdom, officially introduced around 1036, and used in official records and Buddhist books. Tangut lexicographic sources distinguish it from 𗗶, glossed “fox.” Unicode 13 (2020) gave the two entries separate characters; earlier Unicode data grouped them under one character code.
