What ∃ means
At least one value meets the condition. In ∃x P(x), x is a placeholder and P(x) states its condition; the formula asks whether any value fits, without naming it.
Italian mathematician Giuseppe Peano printed this reversed E in 1897 to say a class (a collection) had at least one member. His 1889 epsilon for set membership (saying an object belongs to a collection) was a different mark, not an earlier form of ∃. Bertrand Russell later used ∃ as a quantifier on a variable, as in formulas today.
Formal notation in logic and mathematics; in casual messages, it can read as unexplained specialist shorthand.
∃ means one or more; exactly one needs an added uniqueness condition.

1Why does ∃ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
