What ꗥ means
Use a Unicode Vai keyboard; display needs a Vai-capable font.
Input and display are separate. A legacy 8-bit Vai font is not a Unicode keyboard, and the receiving app needs a font that supports Unicode Vai. If the sign becomes a box, the issue is font coverage.
What does ꗥ mean in a Vai word?
It writes one Vai syllable; its English Unicode name is “hen.”
Vai is written from left to right, and one sign generally represents one syllable. A long syllable or one with two vowel sounds may need another sign.
The script was developed primarily by Mọmọlu Duwalu Bukẹlẹ in the early 1830s. The earliest known sample is held at Harvard; the Book of Ndole/Rora, from ca. 1845, preserves an early form. Vai writing served correspondence, records, and trade. Its signs changed through use, then later standardization narrowed the variants. Possible influence from Latin and Arabic, and perhaps Cherokee, has been proposed, but the lineage is unresolved.
A Vai writing sign, read as part of a word.
Alone, ꗥ does not identify the intended word; include the surrounding Vai text or a translation.

Questions people ask
1Why does ꗥ appear as a box?
It can. The receiving app may lack a Unicode Vai font or fallback for this sign. A legacy 8-bit Vai font is a different resource and does not provide Unicode display support.
