What 𑣡 means
It is the numeral one in Warang Citi writing.
Lako Bodra developed Warang Citi for Ho in the 1950s as part of a wider cultural program, presenting it as an improvement over scripts used by Christian missionary linguists. A community origin tradition, recorded in 2013, says Bodra recovered an older script through a vision rather than inventing it; written accounts date the script's development to the 1950s.
Other languages in the Munda family have their own scripts: Ol Chiki for Santali and Sorang Sompeng for Sora. A 2021 academic study describes Bani Hisir, used for Mundari, as partly influenced by Warang Citi; this is a script-history connection, not a different reading for 𑣡.
