What ꒣ means
A dictionary index mark, not a word.
In the Liangshan Yi dictionary index, ꒣ is a subsidiary form in the group headed by . Entries under each mark are sorted by stroke count.
The Liangshan standard was devised in 1974 and officially issued in 1980. Older Yi writing varied by region; early evidence appears on pottery, stone, and bronze. Paper texts date to the late Ming. Yi ritual specialists called Bimo copied religious, magical, and medical works.
Questions people ask
1Why does ꒣ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
