What ꒩ means
It groups signs that share a shape.
Yi dictionaries adapted the radical-and-stroke method of Chinese-character dictionaries. A Liangshan index lists ꀒ (syllable sign OP) under ꒩, with one added stroke.
Yi writing grew through local traditions. Some accounts place early inscriptions in the Western Han; the earliest surviving example documented for the script is a bronze bell dated 1485. Paper texts appear around 1500. Before modern standardization, village priests used Yi manuscripts for rites, magic, medicine and family histories. The Liangshan standard was devised in 1974 and promulgated in 1980. Yi traditions vary in glyphs and direction; ꒩ belongs to Liangshan, not all Yi writing.
