What ꋋ means
As a Nuosu demonstrative, it means “this.”
After a noun, ꋋꈨ means “these.” In a verb-object phrase, ꋋ is tone-changed ꋌ (cy, “he”).
Traditional Yi script varied regionally and was taught by bimo, ritual specialists. The oldest reliably dated examples are Guizhou bell inscriptions from the 15th century; paper texts date to around 1500. Devised in 1974 and promulgated in 1980 to support literacy, the Liangshan standard covers one Yi dialect and uses modern Chinese punctuation.
