What ꅂ means
Read ꅂ as one Nuosu syllable within its word. Yi Pinyin writes it as dduo; that spelling identifies the syllable, not a complete English word.
Objects attributed to the Western Han period are disputed; a bronze bell dated 1485 is the oldest surviving example described for Yi writing. Bimo priests—ritual specialists in Yi communities—used traditional Yi writing for religious, magical, medical, and family-line records circulated through villages.
A standardized Liangshan form was devised in 1974 and officially promulgated in 1980, drawing on older traditional forms. It appeared in textbooks, newspapers, public signs, and video subtitles. This standard is for Nuosu writing, not every Yi language: regional traditions differ, and traditional Yi writing was not directly derived from Chinese characters.
Is ꅂ an emoji?
A lone send has no reliable reaction reading. Inside Yi-language text, ꅂ is an ordinary written syllable. Elsewhere, it tells you only that the sender used Yi script; ask what they meant before inferring a reaction.
It identifies Yi-language writing; the surrounding words carry the message's tone.
A lone send has no fixed meaning; don't assume it's an emoji reaction.
