What ꆍ means
It is the plural pronoun.
Traditional Yi writing, called Cuan or Wei, varied by region. Bimo, Yi village ritual specialists, used it for religious, magical, medical and genealogical texts. Proposed early inscriptions from the Western Han and AD 223–237 remain disputed; paper and sheepskin texts date to around 1500. The Liangshan standard was devised in 1974 and officially adopted in 1980. Its syllabary grew from older Yi signs, which drew on Chinese writing but do not appear to derive from Chinese characters.

1Questions people ask
1Why does ꆍ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Yi Syllables block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
