What ꑘ means
ꑘ writes the Liangshan Yi syllable labeled “nyop.”
Yi has several varieties; this standardized Yi script was made for Liangshan Yi, not as one script for every Yi variety. “Nyop” is the standard Latin romanization label; its final p marks a low-falling tone, not an English p sound or a translation.
A bronze bell inscription dated 1485 is surviving monumental evidence; undated manuscripts may be older. Older Yi texts served ritual, magical, medical, genealogical, and historical work. Bimo, Yi ritual specialists, transmitted many of them.
Standardization widened Liangshan literacy
From the 1970s, standardization aimed to support broader Liangshan Yi literacy through schools, textbooks, newspapers, and literature. The standardized form was officially promulgated in 1980.
The standard drew signs from older Liangshan traditions and gave schools and publications a shared written form.
How do I type ꑘ?
Use a Yi keyboard or enter the Unicode number in hexadecimal.
In Microsoft Office, type A458 and press Alt+X. In GTK text fields, press Ctrl+Shift+U, type A458, then press Enter. The SIL Yi keyboard covers the Yi Syllables range for regular Liangshan Yi typing.
Fonts control whether the character appears and may draw it with different outlines. A font without Yi coverage shows a missing-glyph box; Nuosu SIL is a font with Yi coverage.
In Yi writing, ꑘ is one syllable; outside that context, its meaning may be opaque.
Without Yi context, ask the sender what word they meant.

2Can I send ꑘ as a reaction?
Only if the reader understands the surrounding Yi text; by itself, this syllable does not tell them which reaction you intend.
Why does ꑘ show as a box?
Your font probably lacks Yi coverage. A Yi-capable font such as Nuosu SIL can display the character, whose code point stays the same.

A visible symbol can contain several code points. JS .length counts UTF-16 units; UTF-8 counts bytes.
