What ꐔ means
It writes one midlevel-tone syllable in the Liangshan Yi script.
The Latin spelling qy is the syllable's romanized label, not a translation. In Liangshan romanization, a final t, x, or p marks another tone; no final letter marks the midlevel tone, where the voice stays around a middle pitch.
Older stone and bronze inscriptions have been proposed; the earliest commonly cited surviving example is a bronze bell dated 1485. Traditional Yi literacy centered on bimo, ritual specialists who used the script for religious, magical, and medical texts. The Liangshan standard drew on older Northern Yi forms to provide a shared written form for Nuosu Yi; it does not cover every Yi variety. The standard was devised and promulgated during 1974–1980. Some historical sources call apparent precursor traditions “Cuan script.” Yi writing developed within its own traditions, rather than as a branch of Tibetan, Burmese, or Tai scripts.

2Why does ꐔ show as a box?
The font may not include Yi characters, so the app displays a missing-glyph box. A Yi-capable font can render the character; the box is not another Yi form.
Is qy the same as ꐔ?
No. qy is a Latin-letter romanized label for the syllable; ꐔ is the Yi character that writes it.
