What ꎂ means
The surrounding words decide which sense applies. Recorded Nuosu uses include the adverb “directly” and verbs such as “accommodate,” “yield,” “allow,” and “permit.”
The earliest surviving example of the Yi script is a bronze-bell inscription from 1485. Earlier forms varied by region and were maintained by priests for religious, magical, medical, and genealogical texts. The Liangshan standard, a syllabary with one character for each syllable, was devised in 1974 and officially promulgated in 1980 to improve literacy. It recast older ideographic writing—characters for words or ideas—as a syllabary. Yi writing appears independent of Han Chinese characters.

Questions people ask
1Why does ꎂ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Yi Syllables block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
