What ꌽ means
It records one syllable. In the Liangshan standard, ssux is its Latin-letter transcription, not a translation; the Yi word or passage gives its meaning.
Yi writing's origins are debated; its oldest dated surviving example is a 1485 bronze-bell inscription. Before modern times, village priests transmitted local writing traditions used for religious, medical, magical, and family-history texts. A standard based on Northern Yi forms was devised in 1974 and promulgated in 1980 to support literacy in the Liangshan dialect, but it does not cover all Yi dialects and writing traditions. Older Yi forms appear to have developed independently of Chinese characters.

Questions people ask
1Why does ꌽ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
