What ꄴ means
No fixed English word follows from turx alone; ꄴ writes a syllable.
Yi writing developed in regional forms over time rather than from one known inventor. Some Yi stone inscriptions date to at least the 13th century; the Chenghua Bell is a dated example of Yi writing from 1485. Classical Yi texts were used by bi-mox, Yi ritual specialists, for scripture, ceremonies, medicine, and astrology. Cuan script is a possible historical antecedent.
The Liangshan standard was devised in 1974 and promulgated in 1980. It brought a standardized form into schools and practical writing for the Liangshan Yi language, also called Nuosu, but it is not a standard for every Yi language.

Questions people ask
1Why does ꄴ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
