What ꀎ means
It is one spoken syllable, so its word needs context.
The Unicode standard covers Liangshan Yi (Nuosu) only. Older Yi scripts, called Cuan or Wei, varied by region; bimo (ritual specialists) transmitted religious, medical, magical and genealogical texts. A 1485 bronze-bell inscription is the oldest generally cited surviving example; some scholars claim Western Han (206 BC–AD 9) objects as earlier Yi evidence, while paper texts date to around 1500. The Liangshan standard, devised in 1974 and promulgated in 1980, grew from older signs that imitated but were not derived from Chinese characters.
