What ꋦ means
In Yi script, nearby Nuosu words decide zzur’s sense.
Traditional Yi script, also called Cuan or Wei, varied locally; it was inspired by Chinese writing, not copied from Chinese characters. A tradition credits Aki with its creation during the Tang dynasty (618–907). Its earliest surviving inscription is on a bronze bell dated 1485. Before standardization, village bimo (Yi priests) kept local forms for religious, magical, medical, and genealogical texts. Older Yi forms shaped the Liangshan standard, devised in 1974 and promulgated in 1980 for Liangshan Yi alone.
