What ꋧ means
It represents the Nuosu syllable zzyt. In Nuosu romanization, final t marks high tone (a high pitch), so zzyt is a reading, not an English translation.
Older Yi writing was used by bimo, ritual specialists who wrote religious, medical, magical, and family-history texts. The modern Liangshan standard was devised in 1974 and officially promulgated in 1980, drawing standardized syllabic forms from older classical Yi writing; it does not cover every Yi variety.
An inscribed bronze bell from 1485 is cited as the earliest surviving example of traditional Yi writing; the script's deeper origins remain disputed. Readers of the modern standard and traditional manuscripts can encounter regional differences in forms.
