What ﭲ means
It is a fixed display form of the letter Dyeh.
The base letter is ڄ. Sindhi and Saraiki use it for [ʄ], a voiced sound made with a brief inward airflow at the palate. This exact glyph, ﭲ, is the isolated presentation form: its shape is fixed rather than chosen to fit a word.
Arabic-Sindhi writing is reported around 864 CE. Around 1017 CE, al-Biruni described modified Arabic letters for Sindhi sounds. The Sindhi Perso-Arabic alphabet was standardized in 1853.
Use the base letter for ordinary writing
Use ڄ in text; ﭲ is the fixed isolated form.
Arabic-script text software selects a letter’s isolated, final, initial, or medial shape from its position. ﭲ is already fixed in the isolated shape, so it cannot adapt to join its neighbors. Keeping this presentation form in ordinary text can disrupt joining or data exchange.
The same base letter has different language-specific readings: Sindhi and Saraiki use ڄ for [ʄ]; Bosnian Arebica used it for /ts/, like the sound of c in “cats,” from the 15th to mid-20th century. The surrounding language determines the reading.
A specialist letter form, used in text rather than as a conversational signal.
For ordinary Arabic-script text, use the base letter ڄ.
