arabic letter kaf isolated form

Arabic Kaf (isolated form)

105/140

For ordinary Arabic text, use ك; ﻙ is the isolated presentation form of Arabic Kaf, useful only when that exact encoded shape is needed. Arabic text normally chooses Kaf's visible form from its surrounding letters. A lone ﻙ is best read as a character sample or fragment, not a complete message.

What ﻙ means

Type base ك for ordinary Arabic; use ﻙ only for exact-form work.

Type base ك and let Arabic text software choose the isolated, final, initial, or medial shape from the letter's position. This presentation form is for compatibility; use UFED9 only when a legacy file or exact-data match requires the stored shape.

Arabic script developed from Nabataean Aramaic through intermediate Nabataeo-Arabic forms; the earliest dated inscriptions with a full Arabic letter repertoire appear in the late fifth century CE. Kaf represents the /k/ sound. In Arabic, the letter can also mark “like/as” or appear as an attached form meaning “you,” depending on the word.

What does ﻙ mean?

It is Arabic Kaf shown in its isolated presentation form.

Inside an Arabic word, Kaf's sound and grammatical role come from the word around it. A lone ﻙ is best treated as a glyph sample or fragment; ask for context if someone sends it without any surrounding text.

Arabic Kaf ك is distinct from Persian and Urdu Keheh ک, though the letters are related. Fonts may also draw Kaf differently in styles such as Naskh and Nastaliq. If ﻙ stays isolated inside a word, the text may contain a hard-coded form where base ك should be used.

A typographic or language-learning character; the glyph alone carries no clear emotional tone.

A lone ﻙ does not make a complete Arabic message; ask what the sender means.
