What ڃ means
It marks Sindhi /ɲ/, the “ny” sound in “canyon.” Sindhi adds this letter to its Arabic-derived alphabet for a sound the basic Arabic alphabet does not write. In Roman Sindhi, ñ represents that sound; in Devanagari Sindhi, the corresponding letter is ञ.
How did ڃ enter Sindhi writing?
It belongs to Sindhi’s adaptation of Arabic script. Arabic-Sindhi writing is reported around 864 AD. A book dated 1067–1069 AH (in the Islamic calendar) is cited as an early Persian-Arabic Sindhi specimen; Abul Hasan’s work around 1700 shows a later dot-based stage. British authorities standardized the modern Perso-Arabic Sindhi form in 1853.
