Uyghur adapted Arabic script to spell its own sounds.
Uyghur is a Turkic language. Its Arabic-based writing descends from the script used for Chagatai, a historical Central Asian literary language. After several script changes, the modern alphabet was reintroduced in 1983 with dedicated vowel letters. This one writes ü, made with the tongue forward and lips rounded.
