arabic tone one dot below

Arabic Tone One Dot Below

In Rohingya Fonna, har bay marks the short-high tone on a vowel. With kasra, a vowel sign under the consonant, this dot sits below; “below” describes position, not pitch.

What ࣭ means

It marks the short-high tone. Har bay modifies the vowel, not its consonant. The dot sits outside the vowel sign; alone, it can resemble a consonant dot.

A 2010 Unicode proposal records over 200 years of Arabic-script Rohingya writing. Modern Rohingya Fonna added signs for sounds Arabic alone could not represent. Its two-dot and loop marks denote long-falling and long-rising tones.
